Protecting the Newborn, the Family and Birth
TBD

Course Flyer
In Italy
This course is about the beginning of life. What is the Montessori approach to the
birth of a child and a family during the most delicate, precarious and fragile time?
How can we support life? Why is this a vital question for the future of humanity?

This two week long course will have two components:
● a 10 day workshop and retreat in the remote village of Decontra (Caramanico Terme) in the mountainous Abruzzo region of Italy, located two and a half hours away from Rome
● 2 days of history in the heart of Maria Montessori’s Rome.

The themes woven into this course will activate our intelligences: integrating embodied memory, instinct, direct experiences and collective knowledge. We will have short lectures each day, but much of the time together will be spent in a retreat from the cognitive and conceptual brain, through using our hands and bodies, individual and small group creative work, dynamic discussions, playful time in nature and mindfulness practices - for the aim of developing the “new adult” within ourselves. We will begin our time together as one would have begun life: without words. Mindful Silence will then merge into Mindful Communication and Mindful Action.
